Orchestra raises the roof at St Luke's

Prom Praise

Sunday morning worship at St Luke’s will be led by members of All Souls Orchestra on the 23rd September, following the Orchestra’s appearance the previous evening in ‘Prom Praise’, a concert in York’s Barbican co-hosted by the Archbishop of York.

All Souls Orchestra is a fellowship of Christian musicians based at All Souls Church, Langham Place in London, with a national profile built on 30 years of ‘Prom Praise’ events in venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the Edinburgh’s Usher Hall, the Sage Gateshead and Manchester’s Bridgwater Hall.

The musicians will lead St Luke’s in rousing traditional hymns and modern worship songs during the regular 10.00am Parish Communion service.

“It’s going to be great fun,” said St Luke’s spokesman Martin Sheppard. “The Bible’s full of praise for God with stringed instruments and trumpets but it’s not often we get to do that in a local parish church. We’ll be working hard to make sure our singing is up to standard too.”

St Luke’s Choir Director Helen Warry has recruited and directed the rehearsals of the ‘Prom Praise’ choir which will perform with All Souls’ Orchestra at the Barbican concert.

All are welcome at the 10.00am service.
