Parish trip to see Steve Benford installed in Northolt

On 11th November around thirty folk from St Luke's headed to Northolt, for the Institution and Induction of Steve Benford as Vicar of St Joseph the Worker.

The reading from Philippians 4, 'Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice', set the tone for the service. We sang, laughed, celebrated and some of us even danced around a bit. (Bishop Pete's moves to the drum-led 'To God be the Glory' during the recessional were a personal highlight!). The music group led us in 14 songs during the 2 hour service, at the heart of which were the Eucharist and an extended time of prayer for both Steve and the St Joe's PCC members. It was an uplifting celebration of God, followed by an astonishing amount of food provided by our generous hosts.

It was a joy to witness the official start of the next chapter of the Benfords' ministry, and humbling to speak to so many at St Joe's who are praying for us in our vicar-vacancy.

By the time we returned to St Luke's at 4am, I thought of it not so much as losing a Vicar, but making new friends in another parish.
