Prom Praise!

On Saturday 4th May, a dozen of St Luke’s choir and around 30 other singers from York travelled down to London to sing in a huge Prom Praise concert at the Royal Albert Hall. They formed part of a massed choir of 300 singers from all over the country, accompanied by the All Souls Orchestra, exuberantly directed by Noel Tredinnick.

The audience were treated to a range of classical orchestra pieces, songs from Carmen, Porgy & Bess and Sister Act, as well as exciting arrangements of hymns and modern worship songs. The concert finished in true proms style, raising the roof with the hymn words ‘Glory in the highest’ set to Elgar’s tune of Land of Hope and Glory. It was a great musical experience, and a fantastic opportunity to worship with thousands of others, singing God’s praise.
