St Luke’s is a registered Inclusive Church. Our heartbeat is inclusion. We celebrate and affirm every person as made in the image of God and deeply loved. Our church family is blessed to include many LGBTQIA+ people who are fully involved in every area of our church’s life.
outsideIN

outsideIN is a new worshipping community for LGBTQIA+ people and allies which is hosted and led by St Luke’s. We welcome people of all faiths or none who seek an inclusive church. Click here for further details.
Christians at Pride in York

St Luke’s leads a group of inclusive churches and organisations in and around York to offer a visible, welcoming and affirning presence at York Pride each year. We walk in the York Pride Parade under the banner of Christians at Pride in York and host a stall at the York Pride Festival held on The Knavesmire. Click here for further details.
Same Sex Marriage and Civil Partnership – Prayers of Love and Faith
At St Luke’s, we affirm and celebrate LGBTQIA+ people who are an integral part of our church community and deeply enrich our life of faith.
Currently the Church of England defines marriage as being between one man and one woman and so, despite our deep longing to do so, we are not able to offer services of marriage for same-sex couples. Whilst we work and pray for change, we are delighted to offer same sex couples the opportunity to have their commitment blessed and affirmed. Specially designed ‘Prayers of Love and Faith’ can be used following a civil partnership or marriage at another venue or as a way of marking a significant milestone in your life together.
If you would like to talk to us about the Prayers of Love and Faith, please get in touch.
Affirmation of Baptismal Faith
At St Luke’s, we are committed to the unconditional celebration and affirmation of trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people. We rejoice in the diversity of both God’s creation and the body of Christ to which we all belong. We are delighted to offer a service of Affirmation of Baptismal Faith for trans people who wish to mark a significant change in their life in the context of their journey of faith in Jesus Christ.
